A performance flooded with the music of Pink Floyd and at the same time a contemporary spectacle that tells with dance, music, and fantastic scenery, the timeless need of all generations in every part of the planet for change, justice and freedom.
Since 1979 when the album The Wall was released, it has not lost even a little of its relevance. 45 years later it is still the ultimate anthem of humanity against all forms of oppression.
At that time, Roger Waters (George Roger Waters) and the other members of Pink Floyd, highlighted with their amazing music the human need for freedom, communication and the disappearance of all kinds of barriers.
In 1982, the 95-minute motion picture Pink Floyd – The Wall, directed by Alan Parker and starring Bob Geldof, was produced and was a huge success and the beginning of the creation of Rock Opera with the main axis music and dance. In Greece the film was released much later, on September 27, 2007
Acclaimed musical theater professionals decide to join forces and "THE WALL - PINK FLOYD'S ROCK OPERA" is born and adored by millions of viewers around the world.
A unique spectacle, which combines music, dance, song, but also screenings of archival material from Alan Parker's film and interactivity with the presence of a cameraman, who will highlight the story live on stage and with "close-ups" we will watch as long as possible. closer becomes our hero, but also we will capture the emotions of our great performers.
The Wall tells the story of a man named Pink Floyd, who as a child lost his father in World War II.
His overprotective mother, the bullying of his teachers, the failure of his marriage lead him to build a protective wall behind which he initially thinks he finds refuge. With each new traumatic event comes a new brick in Pink's wall, eventually cutting him off completely from the outside world. However, the real horror begins once the last brick is laid. The dive into drugs. Alone and unhappy he is driven to madness.
This monumental album is based on the lives of two members of Pink Floyd. Pink's childhood is very similar to that of Roger Waters, the main creator of The Wall. Waters, who lost his father in World War II, lived for many years isolated and hurt by the behavior of those around him.
Pink's adult life is based on that of the band's original singer Syd Barret. Barrett suffered a drug-induced mental breakdown and was soon replaced by David Gilmour. Combining these life stories, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright have created this work that dives into the depths of the human soul.
The work is a complaint about our limitations, people's addictions, fears based on historical remains, but at the same time an optimistic feeling, a window to the horizon, to realize, to dream of a better tomorrow to raise our stature.... until the Wall breaks!
Performance duration: 90 minutes
The Municipality of Athens will provide guests with free transportation using a shuttle bus that will pick up at the Theater from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., starting from Sarantapichou Street. After the end of the concert, the shuttle bus will serve the descent of the audience from the theater.
