With the support of Pink Floyd\, the impressive theatrical adaptation of t
heir iconic LP 'The Wall'\, comes to Athens for two performances only.\n'T
HE WALL - PINK FLOYD'S ROCK OPERA'\, the legendary West End show\, will be
presented for the first time in Athens\, on Sunday 7 and Monday 8 July at
the Municipal Theater of Lycabettus.\nMore than 20 artists on stage bring
the historic album of Pink Floyd to life on stage in a spectacular settin
g where live footage is interwoven with material from the film adaptation
of The Wall by Alan Parker\, in a super spectacle - a hymn to rock music.
\nA performance flooded with the music of Pink Floyd and at the same time
a contemporary spectacle that tells with dance\, music\, and fantastic sce
nery\, the timeless need of all generations in every part of the planet fo
r change\, justice and freedom.\nHistory\nSince 1979 when the album The Wa
ll was released\, it has not lost even a little of its relevance. 45 years
later it is still the ultimate anthem of humanity against all forms of op
pression.\nAt that time\, Roger Waters (George Roger Waters) and the other
members of Pink Floyd\, highlighted with their amazing music the human ne
ed for freedom\, communication and the disappearance of all kinds of barri
 ers.\nIn 1982\, the 95-minute motion picture Pink Floyd – The Wall\, direc
ted by Alan Parker and starring Bob Geldof\, was produced and was a huge s
uccess and the beginning of the creation of Rock Opera with the main axis
music and dance. In Greece the film was released much later\, on September
27\, 2007\nAcclaimed musical theater professionals decide to join forces
and 'THE WALL - PINK FLOYD'S ROCK OPERA' is born and adored by millions of
viewers around the world.\nA unique spectacle\, which combines music\, da
nce\, song\, but also screenings of archival material from Alan Parker's f
ilm and interactivity with the presence of a cameraman\, who will highligh
t the story live on stage and with 'close-ups' we will watch as long as po
ssible. closer becomes our hero\, but also we will capture the emotions of
our great performers.\nA few words about the project:\nThe Wall tells the
story of a man named Pink Floyd\, who as a child lost his father in World
War II.\nHis overprotective mother\, the bullying of his teachers\, the f
ailure of his marriage lead him to build a protective wall behind which he
initially thinks he finds refuge. With each new traumatic event comes a n
ew brick in Pink's wall\, eventually cutting him off completely from the o
utside world. However\, the real horror begins once the last brick is laid
. The dive into drugs. Alone and unhappy he is driven to madness.\nThis mo
numental album is based on the lives of two members of Pink Floyd. Pink's
childhood is very similar to that of Roger Waters\, the main creator of Th
e Wall. Waters\, who lost his father in World War II\, lived for many year
s isolated and hurt by the behavior of those around him.\nPink's adult lif
e is based on that of the band's original singer Syd Barret. Barrett suffe
red a drug-induced mental breakdown and was soon replaced by David Gilmour
. Combining these life stories\, Roger Waters\, David Gilmour\, Nick Mason
and Richard Wright have created this work that dives into the depths of t
 he human soul.\nThe work is a complaint about our limitations\, people's a
ddictions\, fears based on historical remains\, but at the same time an op
timistic feeling\, a window to the horizon\, to realize\, to dream of a be
tter tomorrow to raise our stature.... until the Wall breaks!\n&nbsp\;INFO
RM\nPerformance duration: 90 minutes\nThe Municipality of Athens will prov
ide guests with free transportation using a shuttle bus that will pick up
at the Theater from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.\, starting from Sarantapichou S
treet. After the end of the concert\, the shuttle bus will serve the desce
